Purpose of the course unit

The course aims to develop students‘s analytical and critical thinking in the field of crisis management, to improve their communication skills and build capacity to apply theoretical security management means in practice, to increase ability to make socially responsible, scientifically based decisions.

According to to the schedule of tasks presented during the introductory lecture and on Moodle

The independent work package contains three tasks (2 tasks for individual work, 1 task for group work). Each task is evaluated max 4 points. The aspects of work evaluated: - The analysis, conclusions and recommendations: a comprehensive analysis, conducted using a variety of research methods, conclusions are based, are formulated on the basis of the analytical results for a proposal to address the problems (3.5 points), - if the analysis carried out, but not complete, not all findings are substantiated (form 2 to 3 points) - for an analysis without the findings and recommendations, failed to apply scientific research methods (1-2 points). - The work culture and presentation: wording and style of scientific work fit with the requirements of the task, the findings are original and presentation creative (0.5 points). Not submitted the work - 0 points.

In the end of the course

The questionnaire consists of four open questions (varying in complexity, from understanding and knowledge to the analysis and evaluation). 2 questions dedicated to assess students' theoretical knowledge, the other two help to evaluate analytical and critical thinking skills. Max possible evaluation - 6 points. Evaluated as follows: 6 points: Excellent knowledge and skills. Assessment level. Correctly described theoretical aspect of the matter, creative and critical analysis and evaluation of issues presented. 4-5 points: A good knowledge and skills, may be of minor errors. Synthesis level. In principle, the correct answers and theoretical assessment of the situation, but the lack of a critical approach. 3 points: The average knowledge and skills. Level of analysis. There are errors in all tasks. 2 points: Knowledge and skills lower than mean, exist major errors. Systematically incomprehensible theoretical and failure to assess the situation critically. 1 point: Knowledge and skills still meet the minimum requirements. A lot of mistakes. Knowledge and understanding level. 0 points: Dissatisfied with the minimum requirements. Do not have theoretical knowledge, unsolvel practical problems.
