Purpose of the course unit

1) to provide knowledge of the Korean phonetics , vocabulary and grammar necessary to achieve Korean language level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; 2) to develop basic receptive and productive abilities of the Korean language (reading, listening, speaking and writing).

Knowledge of the Korean language and its application: ability to recognize basic units of phonetics, grammar and vocabulary in elementary texts.

Individual and group work on oral and written tasks: text analysis and discussions, phonetics, grammar and vocabulary tasks.

Oral assessment methods – group and individual oral testing. Written assessment methods – conventional and interactive tests.

Receptive Korean language abilities: - ability to read and understand short and simple texts on subject topics; - ability to understand short and simple texts/dialogues listening to the spoken language.

Mid-term assessment I consists of integrated knowledge and skills test. It checks students’ knowledge of business and management terms in use, reading, listening comprehension and writing skills. Test results are assessed in 1 – 10-point system: 100-95 % correct points – 10; 94-85 % – 9; 84-75% – 8; 74-65% – 7; 64-55 % – 6; 54-45 % – 5; 44-35%– 4; 34-25 % – 3; 24-15 % – 2; 14-5 % – 1; 4-0 % – 0.

Upon the end of the course

Examination paper (written assessment paper) checks students’ vocabulary and grammar knowledge and listening comprehension and writing abilities.
